PFLP Military Wing Outlawed

On October 21, the Palestine National Authority outlawed the military wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), which claimed responsibility for the assassination of Israel's minister of tourism Rehavam Zeevi. This decision was made at a Gaza conference. According to Qatar's Al-Jazeera television channel, the relevant statement notes that such actions were detrimental to the supreme interests of our people, thus providing Israel with a pretext for stepping up its reprisals. Rehavam Zeevi was assassinated in retaliation for the Israeli killing of former PFLP leader Abu Ali Mustafa, whom Israel had blamed for terrorist attacks. Abu Ali Mustafa was liquidated this past August by an Israeli helicopter gunship, which fired a missile during pinpoint strikes against the activists of those specific Palestinian organizations perpetrating terrorist acts against Israeli citizens. A spokesman for the Palestinian administration noted that Israel had already arrested four Palestinians suspected of assassinating Zeevi.
