Putin Advocates Joint Coordinated Efforts In Connection With Afghan Situation

President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation advocated joint efforts and additional coordination on the part of all concerned parties in connection with the Afghan situation. The Russian leader is attending a tripartite conference, which also involves the Presidents of Tajikistan and the Islamic state of Afghanistan. Putin, who addressed the opening ceremony, stressed that Russia had been consistently backing the efforts of the leadership of the Islamic state of Afghanistan to eject terrorist organizations from Afghan territory for quite a while now. For his own part, President Emomali Rakhmonov of Tajikistan noted that the regional situation called for efforts to counter international terrorism especially in connection with the situation around Afghanistan. According to Rakhmonov, we have to discuss Afghanistan's future in a candid manner and in line with our common interests.
