Vladimir Putin On Russian-Indonesian Bilateral Relations

Vladimir Putin expressed high hopes that the traditional bilateral relations between Russia and Indonesia, their high potential would enable growth of trade, economic and political cooperation of the two countries, particularly on the international scene. The Russian President announced this at the meeting with Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri in Shanghai Friday. The presidents of the two countries also discussed cooperation in countering terrorism. Both Russia and Indonesia have directly faced terrorism, Vladimir Putin stressed. In addition, they focused on developing the mechanism for the work of the Russian-Indonesian intergovernmental economic commission. Vladimir Putin congratulated Megawati Sukarnoputri on her recent election to the post of president.
