Macedonia: Refugees Return And Civilians Security On Top Of Priority List

The OSCE, EU and NATO together with the Macedonian authorities are intent to ensure the refugees' return and re-establish the central power in the entire country. Incumbent OSCE chairman, Romania's foreign minister Mirca Goana told journalists about this Thursday. Goana departed for Skopje on Thursday to meet Macedonian rulers and political leaders. According to Goana, joint resolute actions of the three European international organisations will ensure security of the residents and a civilised calm life in the zone of the recent ethnic conflict in Macedonia. The OSCE head is also going to coordinate the deployment of additional monitoring contingent on the territories which are as yet out of Macedonian authorities' control. Besides, Goana's meetings with the Macedonian leadership will highlight issues related to the constitutional amendments, amnesty of the former ethnic Albanian rebels, and national security following the NATO Amber Fox Operation. The talks will be held in the three-format and involve European foreign policy chief Xavier Solana and NATO secretary general George Robertson.
