Russian Border Station Came Under Afghan Fire

The Russian border station of Kupletin came under small arms fire from the Afghan territory (the Taliban-controlled region) on Tuesday, October 16, the press service at the Russian Frontier Service in Tajikistan reported. Two Afghan-launched artillery shells exploded some 200 m away from the Tajik state border. The shells went off on the right flank of the Moskovsky border unit. No Russian border guards were wounded or killed, neither any unit's facilities were damaged during the shelling, the press service reported. According to the press service, as a result of 32 registered accidents, 79 Afghan-launched tank and artillery shells, as well as mortar mines exploded on the Tajik territory guarded by the Russian Moskovski and Pyanj border units.
