Estonia's Cabinet Frowns On Amendments To Law Restoring Non-natives' Rights

At its regular sitting on Tuesday, the government of Estonia failed to adopt amendments to the law On Expatriates. These amendments were proposed by the Russian-speaking faction of the United Popular Party of Estonia, reports the RIA Novosti correspondent. The faction suggested that Russians from among military pensioners residing in Estonia get permanent residence permits and the procedure for gaining temporary residence permits be simplified. Also, it proposed to allow entry into Estonia for marrieds no matter if one of them has Estonian citizenship or they have common children, as required by the present Estonian legislation.
