Meeting Of Russian And Polish Scientists Precedes Putin's Visit To Warsaw

The preparation of the visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin to Poland has been started by today's meeting of scientists, according to Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski who spoke at the Moscow House of Scientists while opening Days of Polish Science in Russia. These days are held with the patronage of the Russian and Polish presidents. Kwasniewski underscored that the transit from feudalism to capitalism, and then to socialism had been described in many books. However, evolution from a totalitarian state to democracy, market economy, and social freedoms "is an experiment we are carrying out day by day in our countries." According to Kwasniewski, "while entering the 21st century, we thought that everything most horrible was behind us." However, "September 11 showed that the most complicated things are maybe in store for us." Therefore, Kwasniewski added, "we have to fight against new challenges, against terrorism."
