Moscow Expects That Apec Summit In Shanghai Will Find Practical Solutions Concerning The Establishment Of Control Over The Channels Financing Terrorists

Moscow expects that the APEC summit, which will be held in Shanghai on October 20-21, "will take practical decisions for establishing effective control over financial flows which may beef up extremism in its various forms." Alexander Yakovenko, an official spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said this in an interview to RIA Novosti. In his words, Russia also expects that the forthcoming forum will take measures to prevent destabilisation of the international financial and economic situation in the event of large-scale terrorist acts. Thanks to annual meetings of heads of state and government, the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) organisation has acquired a powerful potential helping it to promote peace and security in the region and the world as a whole, Yakovenko stressed. In his words, for this very reason the fight against international terrorism has been put on the agenda of the forthcoming summit.
