King Of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf And Queen Silvia Arrive In Murmansk

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia arrived in Murmansk on Friday. At the airport, they were met by Yuri Yevdokimov, governor of the region, mayor of the city Oleg Naidenov and Vyacheslav Popov, commander of the Northern Fleet. King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden is currently in Russia for a state visit. The programme of the royal couple's stay in Murmansk includes laying flowers to the monument to the Defenders of the Polar Region. They will also meet Swedish businessmen working on the Kola Peninsula. There will be a briefing at the Murmansk state technical university devoted to cooperation within the framework of the Barents-Euroarctic region and the projects that are being implemented jointly with Sweden. The briefing will be attended by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Anna Lindh, Foreign Minister of Sweden. At noon, the royal couple will arrive on board nuclear-powered ice-breaker Sovetksy Soyuz where a dinner will be given in their honour by governor Yuri Yevdokimov. The plan also includes a visit to the oceanarium where the high-ranking guests will be shown a performance by trained Greenland seals.
