Russian Foreign Ministry Hails Parliamentary Resolution On State Of Russian-Georgian Relations

The Russian foreign ministry has supported the resolution "On the state of Russian-Georgian relations", adopted by the State Duma on Thursday. "This document contains weighed and rational assessments", said deputy Russian foreign minister Valery Loshchinin, speaking at the meeting of the State Duma. He noted that "the provisions of this document correspond to the line being pursued by the executive branch of authority, including the Russian foreign ministry". "It is to be hoped that your voice will be heeded in Tbilisi", concluded Loshchinin. Noteworthy is that fact that not a single representative of the defense ministry attended the meeting. State secretary, deputy defense minister colonel-general Igor Puzanov sent Gennady Seleznyov, speaker of the lower house of parliament, a letter notifying him that due to the need to take part in the activities planned earlier, defense minister Sergei Ivanov could not attend the meeting of the State Duma.
