An extraordinary meeting of the Russian-Indian ad hoc group on Afghanistan will be held in New Delhi on October 19. As RIA Novosti learned Wednesday from Alexander Kadakin, Russian Ambassador to New Delhi, the meeting will discuss the world developments, particularly in the South Asia with due account for the developments in and around Afghanistan. The meeting will be attended by Vyacheslav Trubnikov, First Deputy Foreign Minister heading the joint group from the Russian side. He will also hold negotiations with Chokila Ayer, first deputy head of the Indian Foreign Ministry. "The topicality of that meeting is obvious," stressed the Russian Ambassador. "India and Russia, being strategic partners, will synchronize their watches and work out further joint steps in countering common threats, primarily international terrorism." Kadakin added that there is full understanding between Moscow and New Delhi on the approaches to that problem, and there are no differences and even nuances between them." The Russian-Indian joint group on Afghanistan was set up during the visit to India by President Vladimir Putin of Russia last October.
