Council Of Europe Supports Anti-Terror Action In Afghanistan

The Council of Europe solidarises with the US-British anti-terror action in Afghanistan, Walter Schwimmer, CE Secretary-General, and Lord Russell-Johnston, President of the CE Parliamentary Assembly, say in a statement circulated on the CE headquarters in Strasbourg. The masterminds of September 11 terror acts in New York City and Washington, D.C., must be punished, stresses the statement. The armed action in Afghanistan is legally justified, and the Council of Europe and the PACE support it, says the document as it calls to limit warfare to destruction of terror-related targets, and avoid Afghan civilian deaths and suffering.
