Russia's Humanitarian Aid To Afghanistan

Russia has held a large-scale operation to provide humanitarian aid for the people of Afghanistan over the past week, said Alexey Volin, deputy head of the government staff, while speaking live on the NTV channel. Volin mentioned that tents, medicines, and food had been sent to Afghanistan. According to him, since airstrikes had long been expected, Russia took measures to prevent epidemics and famine in Afghanistan. Volin said that one could hardly predict military actions, but economic aftermaths must be foreseen. According to him, Monday the government will examine the reaction of European and Japanese markets to the bombings. While responding to the question which forecast might be the worst, Volin said that "all efforts must be made to avoid the Taliban intrusion into Uzbekistan". Since Russia and Uzbekistan are tied by a military agreement, Russia "will be obliged to react".
