Russia Delivered 123 Tons Of Humanitarian Aid To Afghanistan

As of today, Russia has delivered more than 123 tons of humanitarian aid to the Islamic state of Afghanistan, which made up 10% of the total amount of humanitarian relief delivered to this country, told journalists Vladimir Fedin, who heads the Department for CIS Affairs at the Russian Emergencies Ministry. According to Fedin, the Russian government has decided on allocating 100 million rubles and $400,000 for the humanitarian operation, which comprises three stages. During the first two stages, airplanes of the Russian Emergencies Ministry delivered to Dushanbe 150 tents, 2,304 blankets, 5 tons of sugar, 500 kg of tea leaf, about 10 tons of baby food, and other prime necessities, all of which were handed over to the Afghan embassy in Dushanbe. The third stage of the humanitarian operation envisages railway deliveries of field hospitals, medical supplies, ambulances, water-purifying devices, bedding and disposable tableware. Another batch of humanitarian aid for Afghan women and children arrived yesterday in the Turkmen town of Turkmenabat (former Chardzhou), reported the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) mission to Turkmenistan. 40 tons of humanitarian aid - food, clothes, prime necessities and medical supplies - were delivered to Turkmenistan from Copenhagen. Early next week, the batch will be forwarded to Ankhoi, Afghanistan. Yet another humanitarian cargo arrived at Turkmenabat in late September and is waiting to be transferred to Western Afghanistan.
