Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov: Russia Interested In Developing Relations With Iran

Russia is interested in developing good-neighbourly and mutually advantageous relations with Iran. Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov said as much Friday at his meeting with Iranian Defence Minister rear admiral Ali Shamkhani. In his words, the visit by the Iranian minister is closely linked to the tragic events in New York and Washington, which indicated the need for joining hands in fight against international terrorism. The Russian diplomat added that Russia and Iran have long been fruitfully cooperating on the Afghan situation and the Tajik settlement. Igor Ivanov believed that both countries can successfully interact in ensuring stability and security in the region.
