Russia And Eu To Promote National Reconciliation In Macedonia

Russia and the European Union will undertake all efforts to restore peace, stability, and "national reconciliation in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia", reads the joint statement of the Russia-EU summit held in Brussels. The document also says that Russia and the EU have "accentuated the importance for Belgrade and Podgorica to launch as soon as possible a dialogue on further constitutional system in the regional stability interests". Besides, Russia and the European Union have called on to all Bosnian authorities to comply with the obligations undertaken according to the Dayton-Paris agreements to create a secure democratic and polyethnic state". The joint declaration gives a paramount role to "establishment of peace and stability in the South Caucasus". The document also emphasizes the necessity to find a solution to the Transdniestrian conflict in Moldova. The EU and Russia "express deep concern" as regards the situation in the Middle East. "We are calling on to the sides to put an end to violence, terror, and provocations immediately." "Only resumption of the direct dialogue aimed at earliest realization of the Mitchell commission recommendations will allow to pave way towards a comprehensive, solid, and just peace", the statement reads.
