Two More Aircraft Carrying Russian Humanitarian Aid For Afghanistan Arrive In Dushanbe

Two more Il-76 planes with humanitarian aid for Afghanistan on board arrived in Dushanbe on Wednesday bringing 10 tons of canned milk, 5 tons of buckwheat and rice each, 0.5 tons of tea, 5 tons of baby food and 47 erectable tents. On Tuesday 5 tons of sugar, 2,304 blankets and 46 erectable tents were brought to the capital of Tajikistan. The humanitarian cargoes are flown by helicopter to Afghanistan's northern provinces. Thus ended the first of the three planned stages of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. At the second stage medicines, blankets and detergents will be flown to Afghanistan, and the third stage provides for the by-rail dispatch to Afghanistan of field hospitals, ambulance cars and mobile power plants.
