The United States will hardly resort to a large-scale land operation in the context of its retribution action. This opinion was expressed in the conversation with the RIA Novosti correspondent by informed diplomatic sources in Moscow. They think so because the USA "remembers very well the experience of the Soviet Army in Afghanistan." The sources did not exclude that the Americans would use special task units in their retribution action. They noted that the USA "guarantees not to use tactical nuclear weapons." According to the sources, in case of holding a military operation against Afghanistan, at the first stage the USA will deliver blows by cruise missiles from ships and submarines, without using aircraft which may be used later.
