Indian Prime-Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee In The Course Of His Visit To Russia From 4-7 November Will Sign A Moscow Declaration

On Tuesday official representative of the Indian Foreign Ministry Nirupama Rao reported that in the course of the forthcoming visit to Russia (4-7 November) of Indian prime-minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee a Moscow declaration is expected to be signed. According to her, in addition to that several important bilateral documents will be signed to strengthen political and legal foundation for cooperation between the two countries. In the course of the visit Vajpayee will have meetings with Russian leadership. Rao indicated that the parties were expected to focus their attention both on bilateral relations, and regional and international issues of mutual interest. She stressed that the forthcoming visit was meant to give "new impetus, depth and content" to Russian-Indian relations, as well as to strengthen those positive tendencies of cooperation which were worked out during the visit of Vladimir Putin to India in October 2000. The Representative of the Indian Foreign Ministry reminded that in the course of that visit a historical declaration on strategic partnership was signed. Rao also indicated that relations between India and Russia were characterized by consistency, confidence, mutual understanding and were successfully developing in political, trade and economic spheres.
