The United States and Uzbekistan signed a bilateral agreement on demilitarisation of the facilities in Uzbekistan which had to do with working out bacteriological arms and also on the non-proliferation of appropriate technologies. This was stated in Washington on Tuesday by official spokesman for the US Department of State Richard Boucher. According to him, the United States helps Uzbekistan in dismantling such facilities and also in destroying residual pathogens where they can be found. The two countries have been cooperating in this sphere since 1997. The new agreement is aimed at further actions in this sphere, said Richard Boucher.
