Russian Energy Chief Urges Energy Grids Of Russia, CIS, And Western Europe To Work Synchronously

CEO of Russia's RAO United Energy Systems Anatoly Chubais wants to study the possibility of synchronized or parallel operation of energy grids in Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and Western Europe. He told RIA Novosti he had raised this issue at the meeting with Vice-President of the European Energy Commissioner Loyola de Palacio, who expressed her support for the idea. Speaking about the negotiations at the 18th Congress of the World Energy Council, which he had attended, Mr. Chubais pointed out his meeting with President of the major energy company Electricite de France. At the meeting, the two parties discussed projects of investment into the Russian energy sector, which were ready for implementation. Mr. Chubais expects to receive an answer from the company at the end of December, after experts complete the study of the details.
