Presidents Of Pakistan And Turkey Discuss Situation In Afghanistan

Presidents of Pakistan and Turkey side with the idea of creating a public representative government in Afghanistan, announced Turkish President Ahmed Necdet Sezer at a joint Thursday press conference that followed Pakistani-Turkish summit talks. The Turkish leader noted that it was "too early to speak about inclusion of this or that group in the future [Afghan] government," but stressed that the government in question must unite representatives of every social and ethnic group found in Afghanistan, Pashtoons in the first place. On his part, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf voiced a suggestion that ex-Afghan monarch Mohammad Zahir Shah, tribal elders, Afghan emigrants, moderate Taliban and Northern Alliance representatives could be drawn into the government formation process.
