Russian And Portuguese Presidents Meet In Moscow

The Russian-Portuguese extended-format negotiations are currently under way in Moscow. Opening the meeting, Portuguese president Jorge Sampaio invited Russian president Vladimir Putin to Portugal in 2002. The Russian head of state noted that Russia and Portugal had stable friendly relations. He highly assessed the current inter-state relations, adding that they were becoming more active and versatile. According to Mr. Putin, the Russian side appreciates the Portuguese leadership's orientation towards developing relations with Russia.
