Pakistani Nuclear Facilities Cannot Fall Into Extremist Hands, Says Pakistani Ambassador To Moscow

Pakistan's ambassador to Moscow, Iftihar Murshed, has categorically denied the possibility of nuclear facilities on Pakistani territory falling into extremist hands. The head of the diplomatic mission emphasised that all nuclear facilities are under reliable control and the probability of any nuclear materials being leaked to somebody else, including the Taliban movement, is ruled out. Commenting on media reports about the arrest in Pakistan of two scientists who took part in the country's nuclear programme and were presumably connected with the Taliban, Murshed voiced the view that "these men were not the key figures" in the manufacture of the atomic bomb and do not hold any secrets in this connection. According to him, this programme "was participated in by hundreds of people and it cannot be claimed that any of them was the maker of nuclear weapons".
