Council Of Europe Commissioner To Discuss Human Rights Observation In Chechnya

Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Alvaro Gil-Robles is to meet in Moscow Monday Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov and the president's special representative for human rights in Chechnya Vladimir Kalamanov. The Council of Europe Bureau reported that the chief topic of Gil-Robles' meetings in Moscow would be the human rights situation in Chechnya. The Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights has repeatedly visited Russia for the recent years, in particular, North Caucasus and Chechnya. Three Council of Europe experts work at the bureau of the Russian president's special representative for human rights in Znamensky (an inhabited locality in the north-west of Chechnya).
