Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov Will Pay A Visit To Spain

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov will visit Spain in the near future, said on Monday Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov after his negotiations with Spanish Foreign Minister Josep Pique. According to Igor Ivanov, "we are deeply satisfied" with the level of our relations with Spain and "look into the future with great optimism." The Russian Foreign Minister said that next year the Russian-Spanish relations will mark their 25th anniversary. As was pointed out by Igor Ivanov, at Monday's negotiations, which took place "in the spirit of openness and constructiveness," great attention was paid to Russia's relations with the European Union in the light of Spain's chairmanship of this organisation next year. The relations of Russia with the European Union are among the priorities of Russia's foreign policy, pointed out Igor Ivanov. In his turn, Josep Pique noted the benevolent spirit of cooperation between the two countries. According to Josep Pique, active preparations are going on now for the visit by Mikhail Kasyanov to Madrid. The Spanish Foreign Minister also said that in May next year the Russia-European Union summit will be held in Moscow. It will be preceded by a number of multilateral and bilateral meetings.
