US Humanitarian Aid Thrown From Air In Afghanistan Goes To The Taliban

Packages with food being thrown from the air in Afghanistan as US humanitarian aid does not always reach its addressees. Last night many packages fell on the local prison in Khoja-Bahawuddin where the Taliban constitute half of its 145 prisoners. According to the prison's chief, he was very glad to receive the package and is not going to give it to anybody. The US humanitarian food thrown on the northern Afghan province of Takhar with up to 12,000 needy families of 5-7 is minimal. Each package contains 300-400 grams of dry concentrates, and market food prices are inaccessible for many people. Winter set in in Afghanistan, and the population need warm clothes. A pair of rubbers costs five dollars, a sweater - 20-25 dollars, blankets and jackets - 50 dollars and more. The market price of firewood increased to three dollars per 20 kg when the heating season began.
