Last Night Battles Took Place Between Northern Alliance Forces And The Taliban Near Tajik-Afghan Border

Last night battles between the forces of the Northern Alliance and the Taliban took place at a distance of 3-4 km from the Tajik-Afghan border. RIA Novosti was told in the press service of the Russian Federal Frontier Service in Tajikistan that in small hours on Wednesday intensive shooting and bomb explosions were heard in front of Karaul-tyube border station of the Panj border detachment at a distance of 3-4 km from the Tajik-Afghan border. On Tuesday, Russian border guards, at about 16:00, local time, watched the flights of six planes over the territory of Afghanistan at a height of 4,000 metres and at a distance of 5-6 km from the state border of Tajikistan. Then, the border detachments heard powerful explosions near the Afghan kishlak Khojagirdab controlled by the Taliban.
