Kyrgyzstan Asked Russia For Military Aid

On Tuesday the Defence Ministry of Kyrgyzstan asked Russia for military aid, according to the Russian military attache in Bishkek Vladimir Varfolomeyev. He said that Kyrgyzstan was interested in "supplies of ammunition, communication systems, weapons, and helicopter engines." According to him, the total cost of Kyrgyz military's order amounts to $2.5 million. The Russian military attache thinks that their request will most probably be fulfilled. Varfolomeyev said that the Russian military aid might be provided in exchange for payments that should be made for the lease of its military facilities in Kyrgyzstan. Varfolomeyev disclosed that there were two facilities of this kind in the country: a communication centre in Chaldovar and an anti-submarine armament test base on the Issyk-Kul lake.
