USA Hopes Shevardnadze Will Retain Power In Georgia

The George Bush administration is keeping a watchful eye on the situation in Georgia, Richard Boucher, official spokesman for the US Department of State, said. After several days of political upheavals, Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze decided to dismiss his cabinet but the USA is sure that the political authorities in Tbilisi will successfully overcome the current crisis, Boucher told journalists in Washington Thursday.
