Austria's Foreign Minister Negotiates In Tajikistan

President Emomali Rakhmonov of Tajikistan is convinced a government comprising representatives of all Afghan nations and ethnic groups should be established in Afghanistan, after the counter-terrorist operation is completed. Rakhmonov made this statement, while negotiating with Austria's Foreign Minister Benita Ferrero-Waldner here today. According to sources inside the Tajik leader's entourage, the sides also discussed humanitarian relief aid to the people of Afghanistan. Rakhmonov praised Austria's involvement in financing UN projects on Tajik territory, stressing that the European Union should attach priority to assisting the sustainable development of Central Asian countries. Talking to reporters, Ferrero-Waldner said she praised the Tajik President's opinion to the effect that Central Asia can take part in the international community's efforts to restore the Afghan infrastructure after the war. The Austrian Foreign Minister also met foreign minister Dr. Abdullo of the Islamic State of Afghanistan here today.
