Russian Defence Minister About Closing Russian Military Bases In Vietnam And Cuba

The decision of the Russian President to close Russian military facilities in Vietnam and Cuba is a political request of the Russian defence ministry, said defence minister Sergei Ivanov on Monday. According to him, it is obvious that the armed forces and the main intelligence department of the General Staff should be developed. "But we should look into the future and not clinging to the past," Ivanov said. The only request of the ministry is that it should receive the money, spent on the maintenance of these two military facilities, for the development of the armed forces, stressed Sergei Ivanov.
