Russia-India Summit Negotiations On In Kremlin

Russian-Indian summit negotiations are under way in the Kremlin. A RIA Novosti correspondent quotes the Russian president and the Indian prime minister as noting the intensiveness of bilateral dialogue. Vladimir Putin said that the past year was rich with an intensive dialogue going on between Russia and India. He noted that relations between the two countries developed economically, as a political dialogue and military-technical cooperation. The Russian head of state emphasized the role of the Indian premier in the promotion of Russian-Indian contacts. In turn, Atal Bihari Vajpayee stressed that Vladimir Putin's visit to India last year was "historical and produced the most cordial impression". The Indian prime minister said that the agreements signed during that visit were being embodied. Putin said that Russia attentively followed developments in India. He added that Moscow notes with satisfaction positive changes under way in the Indian economy, whose internal domestic product stands at 6 percent annually. The RIA Novosti correspondent reports that the Russian-Indian negotiations will first be held in a narrow and then in an expanded format.
