A Cache With Arms Liquidated At Daghestani-Chechen Border

Policemen and servicemen of the Interior Troops have liquidated a cache with a great number of weapons and ammunition at the administrative border between Daghestan and Chechnya near the village of Botlikh. The law enforcers confiscated two anti-personnel mines, three hand grenade launchers, eighteen shells for a mechanised personnel vehicle, twelve hand grenades and fifty shells for an under-barrel grenade launcher. The cache also contained about 4,000 5.45 mm and 7.62 mm cartridges, three powder charges, one TNT charge of 200 grammes, an igniter set and a Bickford fuse. The press service of the Daghestan Interior Ministry believes that the liquidated cache had remained there after the defeat of Basayev-led bandit units and mercenaries who invaded the Botlikh district of Daghestan from Chechnya in August 1999.
