First Russian T-90 Tanks To Be Delivered To India In Late November

The first shipment of the Russian T-90 tanks will be delivered to India in late November. The press reports that this year, armour units stationed in the Pakistan-bordering states of Punjab and Rajasthan, will be equipped with 140 tanks of the class. The mass media also report making reference to certain military sources, that India is planning to purchase 310 T-90 tanks. In line with the 650-million-dollar contract, Russia will provide India with 140 assembled tanks. The rest will be delivered by parts for subsequent assembling in the ordnance factory in Avadi (the Tamil Nadu state). This February, Russia and India signed a contract on licence production of more than 180 such tanks.
