American Commando Suffer Casualties Near Kandahar

The Pakistani Frontier Post newspaper alleges that 45 US servicemen were killed on Monday during a land operation near Kandahar. Allegedly, the operation was conducted by US commandos. According to the newspaper's data, 26 killed commandos have been delivered to the US-leased military base near the Pakistani town of Jacobabad. The newspaper reports that the mission of the US commandos was to capture the base of "terrorist number one" Osama Bin Laden located in the vicinity of Kandahar. The Americans managed to seize the base after a combat with the Taliban troops, but they found neither bin Laden, nor any of the al-Qaeda commanders there. On their way back, the helicopters came under heavy Taliban fire, which left 45 men killed. In addition, the Taliban Air defence hit a B-52 bomber, which was flying low altitude during the operation. Later on, the bomber crashed on the Pakistani territory not far from the Dalbandin base, the newspaper reports. Pakistani officials have not confirmed the crash of the aircraft yet. The Pentagon gives no information about the death toll in Afghanistan either.
