Monster floods in Argentina

The worst floods for 90 years have left thousands homeless in Argentina.

Two thousand people are homeless in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, after the worst flooding the country has witnessed since 1914. Twelve cities remain cut off and 23 others report severe flooding after torrential rains swept across the country on November 12th.

4,000 people are cut off in the city of Junin, 260 km. West of the capital city, Buenos Aires, after floodwaters swept away a bridge.

The severe flooding was due to the river Salado bursting its banks. The floods also caused damage in the rest of the country, the worst affected areas being Santa Fe, in the East, Cordoba in the Centre and La Pampa in the South.

A situation of public calamity has been declared.
