US Congress Leaders Assure Putin Of Their Intention To Abolish Jackson-Vanick Amendment

US Congress leaders assured Vladimir Putin of their intention to abolish the Jackson-Vanick amendment to the American legislature before the forthcoming visit by US president George Bush to Russia. This was reported to journalists in Washington by Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov who attended Tuesday a Capitol meeting of Vladimir Putin and the US Senate and Congress leadership. According to Ivanov, American legislators reported to Putin they would thoroughly consider this matter and try to abolish the amendment before the head of the White House came to Moscow.
