Boris Gromov Believes Bombing Raids On Afghanistan Should Be Continued

Keen and well-considered actions of the US government and the Northern Alliance's command ensured the success of military operation in Afghanistan. This statement was made on Wednesday by Boris Gromov, the Colonel-General who commanded the 40th Army in Afghanistan and the acting Governor of the Moscow region. He believes that it is necessary to continue bombing raids on Taliban bases and increase number of intelligence operations. At the same time, he said that a large-scale land operation was excessive because "it could end up in a long war which will claim many lives on both sides." The Governor thinks that rapid covert operations will be "most effective."
