Preparations For Russian President's Visit To Greece Underway

Vice-premier of the Russian government Valentina Matviyenko will leave for Athens November 18 to start preparations for Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Greece. The Russian-Greek commission for economic, industrial, scientific and technological cooperation will start its work November 18. The commission is to prepare documents to be signed in the course of Vladimir Putin's visit to Greece in early December 2001. Political issues will be discussed in the course of Vladimir Putin's visit. The political dialogue between Russia and Greece has become very intensive of late, since the stances of the two countries on a majority of international problems coincide. The agenda of the Russian-Greek summit will also include the issues of strengthening cooperation in combating international terrorism. The other no less important issue is the situation in the Balkans. Much attention will be paid to considering economic cooperation. A number of agreements on cooperation between the two countries in the fuel and energy sector is expected to be signed.
