South African Foreign Minister Invites His Russian Counterpart To Visit His Country

South Africa's Foreign Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has invited his Russian counterpart Igor Ivanov to pay a visit to South Africa, Russian Foreign Ministry official representative Alexander Yakovenko has told journalists. The two foreign ministers met in New York within the framework of the 56th session of the U.N. General Assembly. "The invitation was accepted, and the date of the visit will be agreed via diplomatic channels," Yakovenko said. Russian Foreign Minister Ivanov spoke highly of the level of interaction between Russia and South Africa in the context of their common efforts to ensure peace, stability and steady development. According to Yakovenko, the exchange of views between the two foreign ministers confirmed "the community of the two countries' approaches to the problem of interaction in combating international terrorism." They also urged the United Nations to play a more active role in African affairs.
