Dagestan: Russian Military Still Guard Georgian Border

Deputy Interior Minister of Dagestan Boris Erkenov disproves the information appearing in certain mass media that Russian Defense Ministry units have been withdrawn from the Georgian frontier area. On Saturday Erkenov told RIA Novosti that all the auxiliary forces are still dislocated according to the general plan of cooperation elaborated during command and headquarters exercise led by the Interior Ministry in late October. He says that no cases of violation have been recorded throughout the whole period of strengthening the border, amounting to a month and a half. However, the introduction of this mode enabled the police to disclose several particularly harsh crimes and confiscate quite a number of small arms and ammunition.
