Four Foreign Journalists Kidnapped In Afghanistan

They believe in the United Kingdom that the four foreign journalists kidnapped by bandits in Afghanistan may have been killed, reports the ITN television and radio company. An ITN correspondent, who happened to be at the site, says that when they were driving from Jalalabad to Kabul the four foreign reporters were held up by armed men believed to be bandits. They forced the journalists out of the automobile and took them into the mountains, where shots were later heard. The driver fled and, upon arrival to Kabul, reported the incident. At the present moment, the Northern Alliance is conducting investigation, says the ITN. According to some reports, two of the kidnapped are correspondents from the Reuters news agency, one is an Australian TV operator and one a photographer from Afghanistan.
