The Northern Alliance has gained control of 80% of the Afghan territory, with 25 towns and provinces. Bitter fighting with the Taliban is on near Kunduz and Qandahar, and Nothern Alliance soldiers are doing fine, Sherali Khairulloyev, Tajikistan's Defence Minister, said to newsmen. Calm reigns in his country, bordering on Afghanistan, he added with reference to political and military developments alike. The situation is perfectly controllable.
