EU Completes Implementation Of Tacis Project In Russia

The European Union has completed the implementation of a project to facilitate the protection of intellectual property in Russia. The project was part of the TACIS programme, said the EU mission in Russia on Thursday. The project included the development of recommendations to fight piracy in the music, audio-visual, and computer-related sectors. Apart from this, Russian experts were given relevant documents, computer equipment, and software. The implementation of the project, whose budget totalled 2 million euros, was carried out jointly by the European and Moscow Societies of Authors and Composers. Experts from the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Press, Television and Radio Broadcasting, and Mass Communications, judicial authorities, and Customs Service took part in the realisation of the project. The European part of the project consisted of experts from organisations, which protect intellectual property rights. Experts from the World Intellectual Property Organisation, World Trade Organisation, World Customs Organisation, and UNESCO were also involved in the project.
