Meeting Of Interparliamentary Assembly Of Eurasian Economic Community To Be Held In Petersburg

The first meeting of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Eurasian Economic Community (IPA of EurAsEC) will take place in Petersburg on Friday. The IPA of EurAsEC is the successor of the Interparliamentary Committee (IPC) of the Five member countries (Russia, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Tajikistan and Belarus). As distinct from the Committee, the Assembly will work out not only model laws but also regulatory-legal acts operating directly in the national legislations of the Five member states. As secretary of the bureau of the IPA of EurAsEC Anatoly Maryshev said, the first meeting of the Assembly of the parliaments of the five states is devoted to the questions of its formation. Fundamental documents - the programme of work to form the IPA of EurAsEC, the regulation on the IPA of EurAsEC, the procedure of its activity, a provision on the standing commissions, and a number of other questions - will be discussed. The questions relating to the symbols of this international organisation (its flag and emblem) will also be considered. The parliamentarians will discuss, in particular, a provision on holding an international competition for evolving these symbols.
