Third Round Of Talks On Yugoslav Federation Fate To Be Held In Belgrade

The third round of talks on the fate of the Yugoslav Federation comprising Serbia and Montenegro is due to take place in Belgrade Wednesday. Experts from both republics intend to develop proposals on the federation restructuring meeting the interests of both sides. The first two meetings held in Belgrade and Podgorica produced no results. As is known, Serbian and Yugoslav authorities advocate preserving a single state, the so-called "soft federation" with a common market, defence system and legal standards. Montenegro authorities, in turn, insist on creating a union of two independent states with each of them having its place in the UN. Observers and experts themselves are cautious to give any forecasts concerning the meeting's results.
