Turkmenian President To Meet With Russian Officials

Turkmenian President Saparmurat Niyazov is planning to hold a number of meetings with Russian officials during his visit to Moscow set to take place on January 21. The Turkmenian President revealed this intention at the meeting with Russian Minister for Foreign Affairs Igor Ivanov in Ashkhabad today. The Turkmenian leader pointed out that during the meeting with Russian president he is going, in particular, to "make a full-scale exchange of opinions on regional issues and above all the situation in Afghanistan, regulatory measures around it and bilateral relations". In addition to that, he is planning to discuss the problems of the Caspian Sea, regional security, economical cooperation of the two countries, as well as the perspectives for the Commonwealth of Independent States. "There are no problems between Moscow and Ashkhabad that could complicate the ties of friendly powers", the President said, according to the Trend news agency.
