Russia To Render Aid To Tajik Residents Hit By The Earthquake

It is planned to render humanitarian assistance to the victims of the earthquake in Tajikistan, on Thursday, reported the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry. As a result of the strong earthquake in Tajikistan on Wednesday, three people died and 51 were injured, six of them - seriously. In the town of Ragun situated some 100 km from Dyushambe, fifty-five houses have been destroyed, 580 people have been left without a roof over their heads. Damage has been also inflicted on several villages. The epicentre of the earthquake was 140 km to the north-east of Dyushambe. As the press service pointed out, a group from the Russian Emergencies Ministry has visited the place of the tragedy. Russian specialists also conducted talks with their colleagues from the Emergencies Ministry of Tajikistan. As a result, they have defined the amount of the aid and specified the goods to be brought in the first place. They are, in particular, tents, clothes and medicines. The humanitarian aid will be given from the 580-ton cargo, brought to Dyushambe by rail in the context of rendering aid to Afghanistan. Part of this cargo was meant also to Tajikistan, said the Emergencies Ministry.
