Preparations For Russian President's Official Visit To Warsaw

Warsaw "is looking forward" and "seriously getting ready" for Russian President Vladimir Putin's official visit, Polish Ambassador in Russia Andrzej Zalucki told RIA Novosti on Tuesday, on the eve of the visit. This is the first official visit to Poland by a Russian head of state within the last 8 years, he said. The Polish Prime Minister visited Russia in December as part of the preparations for this visit. In December Moscow also hosted a meeting between the co-chairmen of a bilateral commission on trade and economic relations which focused on the preparations of all economic issues for the Russian President's visit. We shall strive for effective results of the visit and we shall do our best to give Vladimir Putin an insight into both the political and cultural life in Poland, Zalucki said. According to the Ambassador, Warsaw is ready and willing to discuss with Russian partners all the issues related to Poland's entry into the European Union and its impact on the relations with Russia. We hope that Poland's entry to the European Union will give a positive impulse to the development of Russian-Polish relations at the level of heads of state and further contacts, the Ambassador said.
